Ira Rubinstein

Associate General Counsel at Microsoft

Ira Rubinstein is an Associate General Counsel at Microsoft Corporation, where he heads the Regulatory Affairs and Public Policy Group in Legal and Corporate Affairs. He is responsible for worldwide regulatory and policy matters including privacy, security, Internet safety, export law, content controls, telecommunications and related Internet policy issues.

For many years, he authored an annual survey of export controls on encryption software for the Practising Law Institute and also serves on the faculty of the PLI's Annual Institute on Privacy Law. He lectures widely on issues of privacy, security and export controls and has testified before Congress on these topics on numerous occasions. He also served on the Editorial Board of IEEE Security and Privacy Magazine. Mr. Rubinstein joined Microsoft in 1990. Before coming to Microsoft, he was in private practice in Seattle. He graduated from Yale Law School in 1985.
