Ivailo Kalfin

Member, European Parliament

Ivaylo Kalfin previously served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Deputy Prime Minister from 2005 to 2009. Kalfin founded the Social Democrats National Movement and was a deputy in the Bulgarian National Assembly. Kalfin worked for commercial and consulting companies from 1988-1994 and 1997-2002 and has been a member of the Bulgarian National Bank advisory council since 2004. He was the vice-chairman of the EU-Bulgaria joint parliamentary committee (1995-1997) and was economic affairs secretary to the President of the Republic of Bulgiaria (2002-2005).Kalfin received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in international economic relations from the University of National and World Economy, Sofia and a Master's in international banking from Loughborough University, Great Britain.
