John Jones
John Jones serves as Vice President of State Government Affairs for CenturyLink, Inc. at the Corporate Headquarters in Monroe, Louisiana. Following the closing of the CenturyLink/Qwest merger this year, John will serve as Vice President of Policy and Congressional Relations for the combined company. John's present department is responsible for state regulatory, legislative and government relations issues for CenturyLink within CenturyLink's 33 operating states.
John began working for CenturyTel in 1993 and has had responsibilities for both state and federal government relations during his tenure. He has also been active in various significant state and federal regulatory reform initiatives, including universal service and intercarrier compensation reform efforts such as the Intercarrier Compensation Forum (ICF) and the Missoula Plan discussions and negotiations. He has also held various leadership and committee positions in both ITTA and US Telecom.
John holds both bachelors and masters degrees in Communication from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Prior to joining CenturyLink, John served as Public Affairs Director and adjunct Communications faculty member for the University for 12 years.
