Paul Bloom

Chief Technology Officer, Telecommunications Research, IBM

Paul Bloom is Chief Technology Officer for Telecommunications Research at IBM. Mr.Bloom has over 32 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. His expertise is in the areas of networks and network applications. He is also known as the father of the Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN). Mr.Bloom has helped IBM define its strategy in the network space, and identify new technologies and offerings to help telecommunications clients transition from their current infrastructure to new IP-based infrastructure.

Mr.Bloom worked for Bell Labs, AT&T, and Bellcore prior to joining IBM in 1997. At Bell Laboratories, Mr.Bloom was involved in the design of the CCIS, the AT&T Intelligent Network and network services such as 800 service, calling card services and software-defined networks. At Bellcore he led the RBOCÕs transition of 800 service from AT&T.

Mr.Bloom received his BSEE from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn; and MS in Computer, Information and Control Engineering from the University of Michigan. He completed his PhD thesis in statistics at Rutgers University.
