Tom Galvin, 463 Communications

Tom Galvin, Partner, 463 Communications. Based in Washington, D.C., Tom Galvins 17-year career has been spent at the highest level of both the political and corporate arenas.

As VeriSigns Vice President of Government Relations, Tom had responsibilities for the companys extensive interactions with federal and state policy makers regarding homeland security, Internet security and telecommunications policy. He also served as Vice President of Corporate Communications and was named by Technology Marketing Magazine as a "Marketer of the Year" in 2002 for his role in shaping VeriSigns corporate image.

Prior to VeriSign, Tom created a Washington, DC communications office for Cisco Systems just as the company launched a nationwide branding campaign. Tom later moved to California and managed Ciscos corporate public relations team. In that role, Tom served as a lead strategist on corporate communications initiatives and helped brand John Chambers as an elite CEO. Toms experience at Cisco saw the highs and lows of the Internet era from positioning Cisco as the most valuable company in the world to a year later being the spokesman for the layoff of 5,000 employees.

Tom also spent over a decade as a political journalist, participating in more than 10,000 interviews with over 1,000 newsmakers -- from U.S. Presidents and other world figures to business leaders and technology visionaries. He started his career as a congressional correspondent for Congressional Quarterly, where he had a ringside seat to the political and the legislative process. He later worked for the New York Daily News, where he wrote extensively about national politics, elections, the White House and Congress, and was recognized as a rising media star by Washingtonian Magazine.
