Internet Caucus Announces Additional Panels and Speakers For Wednesday's State of the Net Conference

Senator Ted Stevens to Deliver Opening Conference Keynote

What:
The Congressional Internet Caucus, and its Advisory Committee, have announced the complete list of conference panel debates and speaker participants for the 2005 State of the Net Conference, to be held Wednesday, February 9 at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. The Congressional Internet Caucus State of the Net Conference is designed to give those who follow policy developments a first look at the policy direction and challenges of the new Congress. The conference program will also incorporate technology exhibits and opportunities to network with lawmakers and industry leaders. The conference general and breakout sessions will address three major issue tracks: 1) trust, privacy and security; 2) intellectual property protection and innovation; and 3) media convergence and the Telecom Act rewrite. In addition to the morning keynote speech, to be delivered by Senator Ted Stevens, Chair of the Senate Committee on Commerce, the conference will feature a luncheon keynote address by Stratton Sclavos, President & CEO of VeriSign, Inc. Other additions to the conference program include government officials, key industry leaders, distinguished authors, and prominent law professors. Panel debates will include such topics as:

The conference festivities will commence on Tuesday, February 8, with a pre-conference Welcome Reception at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill from 6-8 PM. The Welcome Reception, to be held at the newly remodeled Thornton Room (formerly the Capitol View Lounge), will honor Members of Parliament from the All Party Internet Group, the British counterpart to the Congressional Internet Caucus, as well as Congressional freshmen members of the Internet Caucus. The conference will officially start on Wednesday, February 9, with a full day of keynotes, general and breakout sessions, culminating in the Eighth Annual Internet Caucus Kickoff Reception and Technology Fair in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Room SDG-50.
