ERICSSON
The Internet is moving from information, desktop based, to communication, mobile based. In parallel, mobile is moving from connecting 5 billion people globally to connecting 50 billion things anywhere - all by 2020. We will show, display, discuss what all this means and how ubiquitous mobile broadband will really change the fundamentals of how society wants to interact and is able to interact. Timing has never been more important as sustainability and resource management becomes more and more critical as every day passes.
ESRI
With the expanding adoption of mobile broadband services, governments now have unique opportunity to connect directly and instantly with their citizens. Mobile internet powers applications which would allow governments to enhance their knowledge of issues in their jurisdiction. At State of the Mobile Net 2010, ESRI and our partner, Freeance, will be demonstrating an application that will enhance government operations. Our citizen reporting tool enables the public to collect and send information to their local government via a Blackberry device. With this tool, citizens can report issues such as potholes, graffiti, parking issues, construction, and more. Governments will be able to access this information within their existing GIS implementation, allowing them to quickly identify and resolve problem issues, making their cities and towns a better place to live.
INFLIGHT PASSENGER COMMUNICATIONS COALITION
WHO WE ARE: The Inflight Passenger Communication Coalition (IPCC) is
an international nonprofit organization dedicated to informing Washington
decision makers and the traveling public of new, safe technologies which enable
communication services while traveling on commercial aircraft.
IPCC'S 2010 FOCUS: Prevent a ban of inflight communication on commercial
aircraft (via a provision in the FAA's Re-Authorization).
INFLIGHT COMMUNICATION USAGE: In 2009 roughly 100,000 flights in the
international airspace offered inflight passenger connectively and nearly
500,000 passengers either received or made an inflight call. A service that did
not disrupt the traveling public on those aircrafts.
MARKETPLACE: It is estimated that inflight connectivity will be close to a
$3-billion market globally-annually. This represents a new and significant
positive revenue stream for the government, airlines and telecomm carriers.
APPLICATIONS: It can instantly and automatically provide the connectivity/
information necessary to keep up with the bumps of travel and changing
itinerates - well beyond making a short call for business or personal reasons.
Passengers' Rights: Connectivity is viewed as a travelers' right since there are
no technological reasons to prohibit it.

MOTOROLA
Smart Runs in the Family
Accessing the Internet and other services, such as social media sites and video,
via mobile devices and smartphones continues to grow every year. This growth
is putting increasing demand on both the wireless and wireline networks
of cellular and broadband operators and driving the move to 4G networks.
To handle this continuing surge in network traffic operators will need more
spectrum allocated to handle this increased demand.
Motorola offers a family of smartphones based on AndroidTM, a flexible software
platform designed to deliver a personalized and customizable user experience
on mobile devices. It is strongly suited to bring advanced web services, e-mail, social networking, and entertainment to consumers. In addition, our
smartphones such as Motorola's CLIQTM, CLIQ XTTM and DEVOURTM come with
MOTOBLURTM -- Motorola's Android-powered content delivery service created
to make phones more personal and socially smart. It is the first solution to sync
contacts, posts, messages, photos and much more - from sources such as
Facebook®, MySpace, Twitter®, GmailTM, work and personal e-mail and Last.FM - and automatically deliver them to the home screen. Content is fed into easy-
to-manage streams allowing you to spend less time managing your life and
more time living it.
QUALCOMM
Qualcomm will showcase how 3G cellular networks enable Smart Grid applications, particularly smart charging of Plug-In Electric Vehicles (PEVs) and their integration with renewable energy sources. PEVs like the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt are coming to the US market this year and promise to shake up the automotive sector in a big way. With approximately 1 million PEVs forecast in the US by 2015, PEV smart charging and vehicle to grid (V2G) have been described by experts as the 'killer apps' of the Smart Grid. Cellular networks will provide the real time wireless communications required by the PEV ecosystem, facilitating consequent benefits such as a cleaner environment and reduced dependence on foreign oil.
T-MOBILE
While attending the State of the Mobile Net conference please come by the T-Mobile booth. T-Mobile will be demonstrating the latest 3G Windows Mobile, Android and RIM devices. In addition we will have devices that feature T-Mobile's unique secure WiFi calling solution. T-Mobile's WiFi calling allows T-Mobile customers to take advantage of WiFi networks at home, in the office or on the road for secure calling. In addition to being secure T-Mobile's WiFi calling can represent tremendous savings on wireless communications expenses.
This is a widely attended event hosted by the Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee (ICAC), part of a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. The ICAC is a private sector organization comprised of public interest groups, trade associations, non-profits, and industry leaders. The diversity of ICAC membership ensures that all educational events and initiatives are fair and balanced forums for Internet-related discussion.
