Sample Web Site Information and Code

Another great way to communicate with constituents is through your office Web site. Members are increasingly finding that well organized Web sites providing useful constituent services are rewarded with return visits from constituents. The Congressional Internet Caucus Advsiory Committee urges congressional offices to post helpful computer security tips on their Web pages to complement other communications to your constituents. Below, please find some sample HTML code to help you post computer security tips on your Web site.

<p>According to the National Cyber Security Alliance, Although 86 percent of broadband users said they keep sensitive health, financial or personal information on their home computers, only 11 percent said they have safe and securely configured systems. I am urging all of my constituents with home computers to follow these computer security tips to help combat hackers and other scammers. Tips include:</p>

<ul>
<li>Use anti-virus software and always keep it up-to-date.</li>
<li>Use a firewall.</li>
<li>Whether using peer-to-peer software, your e-mail program or a Wi-Fi transmitter, only share files with people you know or trust.</li>
<li>Use unique passwords and don't share them with anyone. Never send personal or sensitive information over e-mail.</li>
