You're invited to a lunch workshop hosted by the Internet Caucus Advisory Committee on making Congressional Web sites more usable for individuals with disabilities. This Internet Caucus Advisory Committee workshop -- to be held on Monday, August 28 -- will provide webmasters with useful tips on making their Web sites accessible to many disabled constituents. The workshop will also touch on the importance of having "constituent-friendly" Web sites. The workshop will be held SC-5 of the US Capitol Building at 12:30 PM, and lunch will be served.

Hosted in conjunction with the Internet Caucus, the panel of speakers includes Geoff Freed of WGBH's Natl. Center for Accessible Media who will deliver a technical demonstration of screen readers and accessible multimedia clips. Invited speakers Dick Brown of Microsoft, Kathy Goldschmidt of the Congressional Management Foundation, and Janina Sajka of the American Foundation for the Blind will discuss the importance of making Congressional Web sites accessible to all constituents. Helpful take-away resources will also be provided for Webmasters.

The Internet has enabled individuals with disabilities to participate in communications, commerce, and democracy as never before, making this an extremely important issue While this workshop is intended for Congressional Webmasters, we believe that Members, staff, and the public will benefit from this event hosted in conjunction with the Internet Caucus Co-Chairs -- Senators Burns and Leahy and Representatives Goodlatte and Boucher.
