On Wednesday February 13, 2002 The Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee (ICAC) hosted its fifth annual Reception and Technology Fair to kick off its 2002 program of educational events. Hosted in conjunction with the Internet Caucus Co-Chairs, the event featured over 25 hands-on demonstrations of the latest technologies ranging from wireless technology and tele-medicine to online subscriber based music services and more.
Over 600 attendees reviewed the demonstrations. Attendees included members of Congress and Hill staff, in addition to the Internet and high-tech industry and non-profit community.
The Internet Caucus Co-Chairs, Senator Conrad Burns and Congressmen Bob Goodlatte and Rick Boucher opened the event by announcing policy issues for the year and introducing Senator John Ensign and Congressman Mike Honda, the Internet Caucus's Wireless Taskforce co-chairs. The program also included remarks from Senator Ensign, FCC Commissioner Michael Powell and NTIA Assistant Secretary Nancy Victory.
Jerry Berman laid out the program of events for the year 2002. The ICAC will host a series of educational events and will continue with its high-level speaker series. The schedule of planned events is available on the ICAC home page.
