On Wednesday February 12, 2002 the Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee (ICAC) hosted its sixth annual Reception and Technology Fair to kick off its 2003 program of educational events. The 2003 program hopes to address some of the pointed issues facing the 108th Congress. Many of these issues were introduced through the hands-on demonstrations. The demonstrations illustrated the latest technologies in wireless, tele-medicine, e-learning, Wi-Fi, cyber security, online gaming, Internet movies and music and more.

The Internet Caucus Co-Chairs Senator Burns and Senator Leahy and Congressman Boucher opened the event by announcing the policy issues they feel will be relevant throughout the year. Congressman Honda, Co-Chair of the Internet Caucus's Wireless Taskforce discussed the future for the Taskforce. The program also included remarks from FTC Chairman Timothy Muris, Acting Chairman Howard Schmidt (President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board), Assistant Secretary Nancy Victory (NTIA) and Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein (FCC).

Over 600 attendees reviewed the demonstrations. Attendees included members of Congress and Hill staff, in addition to the Internet and high-tech industry and non-profit community.

Jerry Berman laid out the program of events for the year 2003 and released the 2003 Handbook of Internet Technology and Policy Experts. The ICAC will host a series of educational events and will continue with its high-level speaker series. The schedule of planned events is available on the ICAC home page.
