Compressus, Inc.
http://www.Compressus.com
Compressus will demonstrate products and on-going research in the fields of digital media compression and data optimization software. Demonstrations will include Compressus RadSight, a tele-medical image access system, which is being deployed at the U. S. Air Force at Nellis AFB in Nevada under the Low Bandwidth Rural Telemedicine project in conjunction with the University of Montana and Montana State University. The system enables radiologists in rural or remote locations to access large medical image data sets over constrained networks and communication links. Compressus will also demonstrate its Insight product applications for Homeland Security, Emergency Responders and Bio-Defense/Bio-Surveillance, which enables the visualization of high-resolution aerial photography and satellite imagery interactively with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and demographic data. On-going developments in the area of distributing large data sets wireless to hand-held PDA units and high quality scalable video will also be displayed. Visit us at http://www.Compressus.com.

Dandin Group
The Dandin Group will demonstrate Motorola's wireless unlicensed Canopy solution, which provides Internet service to rural communities, communities in the digital divide, and local government networks. The Dandin Group has deployed Canopy units in three tribal communities in North Dakota and Montana to create 20-megabit backbones in rural, remote and geographically challenging areas. Moreover, the Canopy wireless system can be configured in various flexible ways to build out local area networks-where none existed before-to reach unserved communities. At a fraction of the cost of wireline legacy systems, the Canopy solution is affordable. The Canopy units are easy to install, and because they do not use proprietary spectrum, they do not require costly private licensing approval and highly bureaucratic regulatory approvals to deploy the broadband network system. The tribal wireless effort is part of a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded project called "Advanced Networking with Minority-serving Institutions" (AN-MSI).

Digit Wireless
http://www.digitwireless.com

This technology has been seen recently on CNN and the BBC. Digit Wireless has won numerous industry awards including Andrew Seybold's innovation award at COMDEX 2003 and the recent Fast Company's Fast 50 for 2002.

EagleCheck
http://www.eaglecheck.com
EagleCheck verifies the authenticity of existing government-issued photo ID's by checking the ID data against the information in the issuing database (e.g., state motor vehicle department records), thus improving airport security and providing a new method of screening passengers without causing delays or impacting freedom of movement. EagleCheck provides law enforcement personnel with the ability to apply existing intelligence data in real-time to detect known criminals, terrorists and potential security risks. With the use of encryption, EagleCheck sends concurrent inquiries to separate databases for respective verification or restriction responses; each database gives its encrypted reply independently. The actual data remains with the different government agencies where it is currently held, allowing each agency to maintain control of its own data and preventing the need for a centralized database. EagleCheck does not see or store private information, or use any kind of racial profiling as a basis for verification. In addition, by using live data, the system can also help counter the increasing problem of identify theft by checking for ID's reported lost or stolen and applying the latest intelligence information as databases are updated. For more info: http://www.eaglecheck.com.

Intel
Intel Corporation will demonstrate the TeraRecon MRI 3D Rendering application as an example of the types of vertical applications that can benefit from the deployment of widespread, end-to-end 100Mbps broadband connectivity. The demo shows how 2-dimensional medical images (CAT Scan, MRI) can be combined in real time into a 3D image using the resources of the TeraRecon computer and storage server. The rendered images can be rotated, zoomed and panned in near real time by a low cost remote PC, if the appropriate network bandwidth is available. This capability is presently constrained to small geographic footprints such as hospitals, but offers the ability to allow a doctor anywhere to view the 3D reconstructions, providing a better diagnostic tool, at a lower cost and greater convenience. Intel builds the servers, PCs and network components used to drive this application and others like it.
