Congressional Internet Caucus Announces Technology Demonstrators for Eighth Annual Kickoff Reception and Tech Fair, February 9, 2005

Congressional Internet Caucus Reception Demonstrates Technologies And Introduces Policy Debates for the 109th Congress

WHAT: The Internet Caucus Advisory Committee has announced its final list of over 25 organizations chosen to demonstrate technologies at the Eighth Annual Kickoff Reception and Technology Fair, following the commencement of the Congressional Internet Caucus State of the Net Conference at the Hyatt Regency. This event will highlight some of the key policy issues before the 109th Congress. Hands-on demonstrations of the latest technologies in VoIP, kid's safety, RFID, wireless, e-learning, online music, consumer electronics and more, will help illuminate these debates and possible solutions. The Internet Caucus Co-Chairs will preview the technology issues they feel will be drivers for Internet innovation and policymaking decisions.

ComCare Alliance, Consumer Electronics Association, eBay, Entertainment Software Association, Ericsson, Federal Trade Commission, Freedom Calls Foundation, Fujitsu, GetNetWise, i-Safe & VeriSign, Kodak, Microsoft, NetSmartz Workshop, NTT DoCoMo USA, NTT/Verio, PivX, Pulver, Qualcomm, RSA Security & i-Mature, SAP, SBC, Sony Connect, SunRocket, Symantec, Symbol, TRUSTe, Verizon Wireless, Visa USA, and Vonage.

WHO: The Kickoff Recpeption & Tech Fair will feature member comments from the Internet Caucus Co-Chairs- Senators Burns and Leahy, and Congressmen Goodlatte and Boucher. Congressman Honda, the Wireless Task Force Chair, will also join the Internet Caucus Co-Chairs, along with Jerry Berman, the Chair of the Internet Caucus Advisory Committee. This event will be widely attended by Internet industry and non-profit representatives, Members of Congress, staff from the Bush Administration, media and staff from independent agencies and Capitol Hill. All guests of the 2005 Internet Caucus State of the Net Conference are invited to attend as well. Last year's event attracted over 600 attendees.
