Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is already becoming a powerful presence in many large public enterprises and federal agencies, and even in smaller-scale operations, like a growing number of libraries and inventory-intensive small businesses.

The Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee is organizing an RFID Technology Exhibition & Policy Primer for Members of Congress and staff.

9 am to 10:30 am: A policy primer panel discussion will introduce policymakers to the associated policy considerations that may include privacy, security, health, and spectrum. The panel will feature:

The panel discussion will commence with member comments from Senator Conrad Burns, Chairman, Commerce Subcommittee on Communications, and will conclude with remarks from Senator Patrick Leahy, Ranking Member, Senate Judiciary Committee.

10:30 am to 1 pm: A technology exhibition will follow the policy primer portion of the event. We will have over 50 demonstrations from RFID technologies that illustrate the gamut of the marketplace: from tags, readers, and printers to integrated systems that tie together to create RFID solutions. All attendees are welcome to explore the many RFID exhibitions throughout the room. The Internet Caucus Advisory Committee has assembled an unprecedented number of RFID exhibitors that reflects the breadth and depth of this burgeoning marketplace.

To RSVP for this event, please call 202-638-4370, ext 288, or send an e-mail to rsvp@netcaucus.org. Please include your name, office, and contact information.
