AT&T
Content Augmenting Media (CAM)
Content Augmenting Media (CAM) is an AT&T Patented technology that brings users the content they are interested in watching on television, while minimizing their time in searching for it. It accomplishes this by collecting information about the content from content providers, optionally extracting such information from the content itself by means of AT&T content analysis technology, aggregating such information into network streams that are personalized and delivered to the user's devices.
CAM is changing how you experience TV content. Users can define a profile in form of keywords and get real-time notification when the content of any channel matches their profile. The technology allows you to create a profile of keywords that are your areas of interest, including names of people, locations and other topics. While you are watching television, suggested programs will display based on your search topics. You can also change your profile on the fly by using your cell phone or tablet. No more searching forever only to miss what you wanted to watch.

Democracy Live
LiveBallot
While the United States of America was founded as a democracy where every citizen has the right to vote, historically there have been subsections of our population that have been disenfranchised from the voting process. Democracy Live was founded to ensure that every American has equal access to their ballot. Since 2008, Democracy Live has delivered cloud-based, electronic ballots to thousands of U.S. voters in hundreds of U.S. elections. Teaming with Microsoft Corp., Democracy Live was selected by the U.S. Department of Defense to deliver electronic ballots to military personnel serving both stateside and overseas. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services approved funding for our LiveBallot technology in order to assist the 35 million voters with disabilities across the United States. With the LiveBallot technology, elections officials can ensure that two very important and often overlooked groups of American voters have equal access to their ballot.

Future of Privacy Forum
Application Developer Responsible Data Use Project (AppPrivacy)
The Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) Application Developer Responsible Data Use Project (AppPrivacy) aims to provide application developers with the tools and resources necessary to implement responsible information collection and use practices. The Internet has seen an incredible proliferation in the number of mobile and web applications, or "apps," available to users. Apps are now integral to the way people experience social networks and the mobile Internet. Many of these apps are supported by advertisements, and some collect information from users to help advertisers display ads that are tailored to users' interests. It is important that users understand how their data is collected and used when they interact with apps. Developers can help facilitate this understanding by using the many resources available on the AppPrivacy website, and adopting recommended industry standards.

HID Global
Cybersecurity - We have an app for that!
Everyone knows that user names and passwords are insecure. HID Global will demonstrate a solution that gives users the option to use strong authentication technology to access many different internet banking or other online sites with their choice of form factor: fob, smartphone, smart card, etc. This eliminates the hassle of having to remember multiple user names and passwords for all of the different applications users logon to. Our solution is privacy-enhancing because users do not have to reveal personally identifiable information everytime they go to a site, information that could be captured by a keystroke logger, someone looking over their shoulder, or in some cases, by someone seeing their password written down somewhere. This solution illustrates how easily privacy and security can be enhanced and made more user-friendly.
HP
Enable Trusted G2C using Identity Proofing (IDP) and Two Factor Authentication (TFA)
HP/Equifax will demonstrate how identity authentication can be used as a foundation for secure online transactions in any environment. The solution is a revolutionary combination of standards-based patented tools that provide true two-factor authentication through the use of devices users already have: cell phones, pagers, email, web connected phones, and voice biometrics. Learn how progressive authentication can be applied based on the risk presented by the end user, the sensitivity of the transaction, or environmental risks like IP geo-location, frequency or mobile device risk. This solution is ideal for use in any application where face to face identification may not be practical and the cost of tokens, fobs and cards is prohibited. The cloud based HP/Equifax Authentication can be leveraged by government, enterprise, or consumer facing environments.

National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)
National Broadband Map
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will be exhibiting the national broadband map, an interactive online tool that shows what broadband providers, services and speeds are available in every census block across the country. The map, which was launched in February of 2011 and is funded by the 2009 Recovery Act, is powered by a searchable database of more than 20 million records that can be sliced, diced and sorted in many ways. NTIA, part of the Commerce Department, created the map in collaboration with the FCC. The two agencies are updating it twice a year using data collected by the states from more than 1,700 broadband providers and other sources. The map serves many types of users. Business owners and consumers can type an address into the map to pull up a list of local broadband providers, along with details on maximum advertised speeds and technology used to provide service. Economic developers can point to the data in the map to market communities to businesses and residents looking for cutting-edge telecommunications services. Research firms and academics can study the map to figure out which states, counties and census blocks have the fastest broadband connections and compare those findings with demographic data, such as income and race. And policymakers can use information from the map to identify where network gaps still exist and craft policies to help close the digital divide.
Neustar
NeuSentry - A New Layer in Information Security
Cybercrime has evolved to the point where the increasing numbers of attackers have become focused, targeted, and persistent. Existing tools focus on strengthening a company's defenses, but because of the sophistication of the Advanced Persistent Threat and the reality of so called "zero day" vulnerabilities, systems will be compromised - despite the quality and layers of those defenses. NeuSentry provides an additional and innovative new dimension for protecting a company's valuable data. NeuSentry searches the Internet for evidence of a breach or other malfeasance, not by focusing on a given event, but by looking for the "cyber footprints" that the events leave on the Internet. By monitoring from the outside, Neustar can provide early/realtime notifications when a customer's breach occurs, leaving the company far better able to stop, mitigate, and recover from an attack.

TRUSTe
EU OBA Compliance
Under the EU Cookie Directive, which encompasses changes to the EU 2002 e-privacy directive, companies are required to get "informed" consent from a user prior to storing or accessing information on that user's computer. This may include "cookies" used to track a user's movements, over time (otherwise known as online behavioral advertising). The Directive also presents significant technological challenges to compliance for new and existing publishers and data providers - especially US companies that are seeking to comply with the EU's data protection framework. To make the process as seamless and simple as possible, TRUSTe has introduced an EU OBA Compliance technology solution, designed to help advertisers, agencies, DSPs, exchanges, ad networks, and publishers ensure compliance with the EU Cookie directive. At the State of the Net, TRUSTe would appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate how our solution works to provide notice and choice on behalf of the relevant player - advertiser, ad network, publisher, etc. -that is placing the cookie on a user's machine. In addition, we would also demonstrate how our solution benefits users - by helping them keep track of their OBA choices and letting them amend these choices in the future if desired.

According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, teen gains in reading achievement have been nearly stagnant in recent years. However, in 2010 the Pew Internet and American Life Project reported that 75% of teens own cell phones. Using the latest technology to turn teens on to books can help make gains in reading achievement. The Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association, will demonstrate the first ever teen book finder app for a smart phone. The demonstration will show users how easy it is for parents, teens, educators and librarians to find quality recommended reading for teens for free via a mobile phone, and to identify a nearby library that has the book available for borrowing. This app provides quick and practical information from a trusted source. YALSA will have mobile phones on hand loaded with the app showing users how timely information on the latest recommended reading can be delivered to users via the app.
