Marco Cappato, rappateur on the committee responsible for privacy and security in the European Parliament, delivered an impassioned exchange on balancing security and privacy. The panel also featured Jerry Berman representing the Center for Democracy & Technology, Bill Guidera from Microsoft and Tilman Kupfer from British Telecom.

MEP Malcolm Harbour chaired the discussion on Intellectual Property and delivered an excellent summary of the European Parliament's recent work on the issue. His introduction was complemented nicely by Arlene McCarthy. The panel also included the perspectives of Fritz Attaway representing MPAA member Vivendi and Sarah Deutsch of Verizon.
