Kazuo Hirai, President & CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment America, was the featured guest speaker at the 2004 Internet Caucus Advisory Committee Speakers Series event on Tuesday, June 22.

Making the PlayStation™2 computer entertainment system a household item has propelled Kazuo "Kaz" Hirai to consistantly be named in the top ten on the most powerful entertainment executives list, as ranked by Entertainment Weekly. While highly regarded in the business world (he made Business 2.0's All-Star Executive Dream Team list), Kaz Hirai is a legend in the video game industry. "A veritable videogame hero himself," says Business 2.0. Under Mr. Hirai's leadership the PlayStation and the PlayStation 2 has become the leading videogame console in North America, a $10 billion dollar industry.

Mr. Hirai spoke to the Congressional Internet Caucus about "Opportunities Facing the Internet." In the gaming space, opportunities abound. The PlayStation 2 is broadband-ready and now an exponential number of gamers are competing with online opponents.
