Congressional Internet Caucus Speaker Series Features Microsoft General Counsel and Sr. VP, Brad Smith

Smith to Discuss Privacy Legislation and Consumer Protection Laws

WHAT: Brad Smith, General Counsel and Senior Vice President for Microsoft Corporation, will address members and staff of the Internet Caucus, press and other key government officials and will outline Microsoft's new framework for privacy legislation. As the chief legal strategist for a leading innovator in the software and gaming industry, Mr. Smith will touch upon emerging public policy issues and the importance of moving appropriate consumer protection laws when needed to provide enhanced online safety and security. Mr. Smith will also enlighten us with his perspectives on consumer privacy protection issues and the steps necessary to engender confidence in the Internet. The Speakers Series Luncheon will begin with introductory remarks by Lee Rainie, Founding Director, Pew Internet & American Life Project. Mr. Smith will deliver his comments followed by a short question and answer session.

WHO: Brad Smith, Microsoft General Counsel and Senior Vice President. Mr. Smith leads the company's Department of Legal and Corporate Affairs, which is responsible for all legal work and for government, industry, and community affairs.
